We were covered in ticks!

We are back!

What a great time we had this summer! Several events took place this summer and hopefully you will get to see some videos of what we did. The last thing that was posted on this blog was VBS. A short unedited video has been posted and was marked unlisted on our youtube channel. It may be on our church's website or youth page at a later date. If I have permission I will link the video from this blog at a later time.

After VBS I was able to be a sponsor for our church Junior High girls at youth camp at camp Zephyr. What an experience! I was reminded what it's like to be a teenager (mostly girl drama and boy crazy. HA!) But also to remember how fun life really is and that EVERYDAY something new and exciting will happen. For now we are not able to post pictures from that event  but if you want more information about camp zephyr please visit their wordpress page at http://campzephyr.wordpress.com .

The only video that this Country Bumpkin Reporter has made this summer is when we went to the Padre Island National Sea Shore in Corpus Christi, TX. We watched the release of baby sea turtles into the Gulf of Mexico.
This video was first posted to youtube and then link up to our facebook page. This video is informational and presented like a news story.

The link is below if you can not view it from this blog page. ( I am going to up load this video on another post. Sorry about that!)

Then Jasmine, my mother and I went to Springfield, Missouri. This was an unplanned trip because we had to go to a funeral. Although the reason for this trip started out with sadness it ended up with great memories. I am glad that we were able to see my family in Missouri and plan on visiting more often.

Side note: Jasmine reminded me that at one point we decided to look at some old grave sites and ended up covered in ticks...It was very gross.

Once we got back home we went to a local fishing lodge at Baffin Bay. My husband Gary is a home improvement contractor and was putting insulation into one of the fishing lodges. The owners wanted this project to be done by the next morning so they allowed us to stay overnight at their cabin.

Next we went to South Padre Island for about 5 days.  It was a great time! More than great, it was fantastic! It was the first time in over 2 years that we were able to take a trip together as a family. A big Texas size "THANK-YOU!"  goes to my cousin in Tennessee and my Aunt who invited us to vacation with them. We would not be able to stay in such a wonderful condo without their generosity.

The next day from our South Padre Island vacation Gary went to Austin to play at Trailer Space Records with his college band called FreakStarr.

While Gary was having fun playing around with his college buddies I was doing some serious research at the children's ministry summit in Dallas, Texas. Okay... maybe not serious but we did learn a lot at Dallas Baptist University about children's behavior and how to interact with them in a christian setting.
