Labor on Labor Day

Yesterday day was labor day in the U.S.
This is the day when workers are to receive a day of rest in honor of their hard work and contribution that they have made to the U.S. society.
According to the Department of Labor website the national holiday was created over 100 years ago on September 5, 1882 in New York City.

What a great concept of honoring those that work hard!

However, it seems that Kingsville Independent School District (KISD), school board does not appreciate the hard work of their teachers and staff. The entire school district was open on labor day.

What kind of message does this send to the workers of the school district? You've guess it. The school board does not care about their workers.  The message to KISD workers are loud and clear. When this happens you can expect moral to go down from all of the employees and this will have a great impact on the children that attend the district.

Parents, if your child is in in a public school and you want certain things to change or have an idea to improve your child's school then it is recommend  that you attend your local school board meetings. This is just the first step into getting involved and making sure that your child is being educate in a manner that you think is best. Don't leave it up to "Daddy Government" to take care of your child's education. Step up and take some action!
